Green Unroasted Colombian Supremo, Whole Bean Coffee, 5-Pound Bag

Product Description

Supremo is the highest grade of Colombian coffee beans. This is the coffee that off-the-shelf brands are trying to emulate when they offer "100% Colombian" blends, and not one of them comes close to the quality of a fresh roasted Colombian Supremo bean. These large beans create a medium bodied and sweet tasting coffee with a rich flavor and aroma. We recommend a roast anywhere between Light and French for this versatile bean.

  • High-quality raw unroasted coffee beans
  • Coffee beans are packaged to ensure optimal freshness
  • Roast the coffee to fit your own unique tastes
  • Perfect for at-home coffee roasters
  • 100% unroasted Colombian Supremo coffee beans

5.0 out of 5 stars You dirty little bean, December 28, 2010

This is a new hobby for me and it has been fun roasting my own coffee beans with Toastess TCP-388 Hot-Air Popcorn Maker. I have tried just a few deferent types but so far I think this is one of my favorite so far. I have been experimenting with roasting times leaning toward dark French roast 13.5min/sec @ 497 (espresso). I have noticed the heavy oily residue on the bean not seen on others and a more robust aroma and taste. I will buy another bag soon I hope the price goes back down; I think it was a little cheaper a few months ago. Oh the dirty little bean comment, burlap sack fibers and strings were in the bag for that special flavor. Overall for the price and freshness I give it 4 stars.

The beans were well packaged and delivered quickly with Amazon Prime--two days. Despite warnings that a conventional electric oven is a poor way to roast coffee, it was all I had till my popcorn popper arrives. I used a wire-mesh pizza screen over a ceramic "pizza stone" to roast the beans.

I preheated the oven to 500F and let it stabilize for nearly ten minutes, while I spread the beans in a single layer over the pizza screen, taking care to reach beneath the screen and push any beans back up onto the surface of the screen before placing them on the stone. Any beans slightly poking through the screen will be stuck there and difficult to remove after roasting without pulverizing them (they swell when roasted).
Next I placed the screen onto the stone. The idea was to use the stone to even out the electric oven's heat, and to ensure as uniform a roast as possible.
I quickly opened the oven to rotate the mesh screen 15 to 20 degrees at 90 second to two-minute... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good colombian green beans, April 18, 2011

Like the other reviewer, I use a popcorn popper to roast my beans and I dont use a temp to judge the beans, I listen and watch them. After the second crack, I just let it go and watch the color. Great beans so far, good flavor and great freshness. I have done four batches of beans so far so about 1/2 a pound. I would recommend the Colombian supremo beans to any roaster that wants a rich full flavor! Price could be a bit lower, but I hope it means that they will keep the quality up.
